East Desert View Drive and Watchtower

After we got all settled in to our campsite, our first tour of the park would be the East Desert View Drive and the Watchtower.  We drove the truck this day because we wanted to check out the east exit of the park.  We hoped we would be able to take this route out with the motorhome to our next stop in Utah.  It would save a lot of miles.  Turns out it was an excellent road easily negotiated with the motorhome.

We visited the Watchtower next.  It was a beautiful piece of architecture and the 360 degree view from the top was amazing!

Our timing was good that day, so we were able to attend a talk by a ranger at the Tusayan Museum.  It was a walking tour of the ancient ruins.

We always enjoy attending these ranger talks.  We learn so many more details about the parks this way.  On another day, we listened to a talk about the condors.  Of course, there were no condors to be seen THAT day!
