Muir Woods and The Bridge

For our final day in the San Francisco area, we decided to do more driving than walking.  Glenn's poor feet couldn't take another day of walking in the city!  Muir Woods is a beautiful National Monument just north of the Golden Gate Bridge.

We stopped at a park on the north side of the bridge to take a few pictures of the gorgeous view.

Someone had parked a classic convertible with stuffed bears in it dressed to represent the San Francisco teams.  Pretty cute!

Muir Woods is one of the few stands of virgin Redwoods.  We took the shortest loop trail, just enough get a taste for the area and give Glenn's feet a break.  We ate the lunch we had packed there and did some people watching, too!

We then drove on to the Muir Beach Overlook.

This was a very pretty spot and we wished we had lunched here!  We continued our scenic drive and made our next stop at Stinson Beach.  Too bad we weren't prepared to stay awhile, it was one of those rare days you could be on a Pacific beach without a jacket.

We drove a little farther, saw some sea lions along a slough, then headed back south.  We wanted to beat the afternoon rush hour traffic.

We made one final stop at the overlook of the Golden Gate Bridge, opposite of the one we were at in the morning.  Some breath taking views here, also!

Upon returning to our campground, we ordered a pizza from a local place and enjoyed our final sunset on the West Coast for this trip.  We were also rewarded with a few glimpses of whales!

Whales!

Next stop - Yosemite National Park
